About us

“Passionate about sharing local stories”

Discover Mildura is operated by husband and wife team Phill and Alison Stone and with the combined tally of more than 220 years of continual family farming history in the region they have a strong connection to the land and consider themselves “locals”.

Phill grew up surrounded by wheat & sheep on a dry land farm south west of Mildura.

He spent childhood days exploring mallee scrub on horseback collecting

old bottles and anything from farm tips & ruins that captured his interest.

Playing wild & free in the sand dunes on the family property not realising this remnant

of an inland sea would connect to one of the businesses most popular tour locations

...the Murray River Salt

Phill

Alison was raised on a dried vine fruit property and spent her youth surrounded by lush fresh fruits and produce grown on the family farm. She has always had a strong passion for the natural world and great appreciation of the traditional owners of the land.

Childhood summers were spent picking & packing grapes, raking out dried fruit and hours splashing in the warm waters of Lake Bennanee.

Family drives often explored beyond dusty back trails often leading to interesting sites

like Lake Mungo, now one of the most requested tours sites within the operation.
